This Murphy bed was constructed with Butternut which was attacked by a fungus that came on a shipping pallet from Europe in 2010. It decimated the trees in this region. The 4 of the 5 trees I had in a cluster died within a short period. The trees were cut before they deteriorated and taken to the sawmill for processing. The remaining lumber was sold to local craftsman.

The remaining tree is now reaching maturing (2026) and will need to be harvested soon.
